Parody humour isn't easy. The thousands of soul-destroyingly bad Gangnam Style song parodies on Youtube tell you that. But one website that has mastered the art is the absolute breath of fresh air that is howitshouldhaveended.com. 'HISHE', as it's known, has been around for a while and made an art form of its simply animated style and good natured digs at the movies we love (and love to hate).
What's so good about these particular video parodies? Three things in particular:
1) The writing has an uncanny ability to spot plot holes and quirks in the films, tv shows and games we love that have gone unnoticed (by me, anyway) and exploit them for maximum comedic effect.
2. The voice talent has an equally uncanny ability to approximate the vocal tics of the real life actors. Most impressionists will tell you one distinctive vocal quality is all you need for an impression. The talented HISHE voice cast have taken that advice and run with it, superbly.
3. It's just my kind of humour. So clever, so pop-culture laden and so well realised. If you haven't been there before, you're welcome.
